Super Science (Robots)

We are soooo going to miss doing science! We had our last science class and it was by far one of the coolest!! They learned all about robots and even got to make their own really cool robot. They learned what it takes to make, operate, and control a robot. So to make their own robots they used toothbrushes, watch battery, and a simple motor! This robot was called a “cleaning robot” Although it can’t really clean anything, how I wish it could. :0 The kids were super excited to make the robots.

So this was their little robot, and it was so cool to watch this toothbrush head move all over the place like it had a brain of it’s own. They made some cute little mazes to put the robots in, and these things could actually go through the maze. The maze was made out of straws, tape, and a box top. Very simple objects created little complex things. We had a great year in science this year and we are all looking forward to next year! In fact science may be the only thing my kids are looking forward to!

Here are our robots in action

Super Science (Liquids)

Super science is still in effect, and the kids are still loving it! They learned about liquids and and gas at science. The got see how different liquids can stack on top each of other and make layers. Then they got to make liquid gas. Which they loved! They were so worried about the bottle exploding Bossy made sure they she unscrewed her cap every 10 seconds, while baby and big baby watched. This is the highlight to homeschooling seeing them get so excited about something like science! It’s amazing…

Super Science (simple Machines)

What did we learn at super science?!! All about simple machines! So the kids learned about simple machines, how they work and what they are. They even got to build their very own simple machine. They used a pencil, a paper holder, a popsicle stick,  and a rubber band. These very common household products put together made a…. Lever! They learned about all six simple machines lever, pulley (which they also got to make), wedge, incline plane, and screw. As always they had tons and tons of fun while learning.

He was listening so intently!

Here they are testing their levers

Super science (dinosaurs)

As usual we had another great time at super science! The kids got to learn all about dinosaurs!!! How fascinating. I will say I am still a little skeptical about the whole dinosaur thing, but it is still very interesting to learn about! This also helped with their understanding of jurassic park, yes they have watched that movie, more than once! It’s educational. :/ Their science teacher did reference the movie when describing certain dinosaurs so it was good that they had a visual to go along with the lesson he was giving.
They got to make dinosaur teeth, which was really cool. I love how they always get to bring a part of their lesson home with them, it gives us a chance to reflect.

They had to wait patiently on their teeth mode to set

This was the final outcome of their teeth! This is a sharp tooth which means she had a carnivore tooth!

The main object of the science class was to learn about being an archeologist and digging for bones, in order to learn more about history and our ancestors. So the kids got to dig for dinosaur bones.

Once they found all of their bones they constructed a dinosaur to see which dinosaur they had found! Once again another fun and educational class! It’s no mystery why my kids LOVE science!

Super Science (all about bubbles)

At the last super science the kids learned all about bubbles how to make bubbles, what was inside bubbles (air), and they learned about balloons and how bubbles and balloons are similar and different. The greatest part of this science day was that they got to get inside of giant bubbles!! Of course they love that! I mean really I have never even been inside of a bubble. I can’t say enough about how much we LOVE super science!! Who knew!
